Mounds Brownies
These Mounds Brownies taste just like the candy bar. Start with a boxed brownie mix and end with a can of frosting, but the middle is totally homemade.
Somebody messed up. Really. What kind of marketing team sits back and takes a look at a Mounds Bar and an Almond Joy and calls the one with a mound on top of it Almond Joy? THERE’S A MOUND ON TOP OF THE ALMOND JOY!!!
I know- you are thinking I should really calm down about this. I’m not really that jazzed up about it but to tell the truth these are the things I sat around and thought about as a child. Even now as an adult I get the two candies confused. Now you know me a little better. Isn’t that nice?
I am also sharing this recipe over at Dixie Chik Cooks. I hope you’ll stop by and tell her hello too! I actually made this after being inspired from some Halloween candy lying around. We want you to fess up- do you have any leftover Halloween candy?
Random confession: I had to throw out Easter Candy the week before Halloween.
If you don’t want to start with a boxed brownie mix here is my FAVORITE Best-Made-From-Scratch-Brownie Recipe!

These brownies are delicious. I gave a shout out to you in my blog about it
I think you should place an almonds (one for every 2" square) just before you pour your chocolate -then you will have an almond coconut joy brownie. Makes my mouth water.
a friend sent me your link, and I can see why 🙂
I think I'm going to have to make these, and blog about it, with a link back here!
Thanks !

Why not make them Almond Joy Brownies and add the almonds?! I don't think my husband will let me make these without Almonds! 🙂 Thanks for sharing, these look delish!
I made mine with sweetened coconut and skipped the additional sugar completely!
saw these on pinterest, realized i had most of the ingredients in my house… made the to take to work and everyone loves them! i think i'll be trying your peanut butter truffle brownies next week!
These look AMAZING! Can't wait to make them. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂
Oh. My. God. Two things… 1) I just got a cavity and 2) I'm totally making these this weekend. And after I make them, I'm hiding them from the kids.
OMG! These look amazing! Can't wait to make them.
Another reader and I emailed about this and she used sweetened coconut but just reduced the powdered sugar to her taste.
Can you use sweetened coconut?? I cannot find unsweetened?? Would it make it too sweet??
I too always throw Easter candy away just before Halloween and then Halloween candy just before Easter… These look wonderful, I will have to make them!!
I made these yesterday and brought them into work…gone in seconds! I also had one marriage proposal :- )
However, I am already marrried ;- )
I so just drooled on the keyboard. So not fair. And I am so making these on Monday for Family Home Entertainment.
Funny, I've never been a fan of either of those candies, these brownies however are a different story! I didn't embrace coconut until I was in my 40's, and now I can't get enough (still not the candy form though…). Saw your pic on FPD… beautiful!
Looks amazing – I so need to eat these! 🙂
found this on Pinterest, Made this for company Christmas get together it was a hit, I added slivered almonds on top of the coconut and then covered with chocolate. Will make again.
This looks DElicious!
saw this on pinterest, looks great. thanks for posting
These sound yummy but I can't find unsweetened coconut & I've looked for it at 3 different stores so far! Could I use sweetened coconut instead or will it be too sweet if I do that? Any ideas where I can find some?
Found these on Pinterest – Mounds is my favorite candy bar of all time. This looks even better!
Mounds are my absolute favorite kind of candy! I can't imagine how yummy these brownies will be… can't wait to try them.
Oh. Em. GEE!!! I need these BAD!!!
You didn't. You did. This is going to make you internet-famous.
Insane prizes!? Daily cookies! Philosophic deconstruction of mounds vs almond joys (a debate which has honestly kept me up at night!) I NOMINATE THIS FOR BEST POST EVER!
Oh boy!!!!
That looks really good. I love coconut and chocolate treats. I'll have to pin this one for memory. Plus the fact it's an awesome photo!
so delish. I need to try and make this. Mounds are family favorite of ours. Thanks for sharing.
Ha! You are so right, I had never thought about that before you mentioned it.
All I can say is "I want some…NOW!"

My hubby will love these!
These look absolutely sinful! Oh.my.word…I love coconut and chocolate!
Woah. That is all.
These are the definition of ridiculous. Holy hannah.
Wow. I am reduced to drooling.
Oh…my god…that layer of goodness on top of those brownies…I can hardly handle it! I am drooling big time. So much good stuff on one fudgy brownie!
Almond Joy's are probably my favorite candy bar so I'm super excited about this recipe! They sound so delicious and look even better 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

Sweet Mother of Pearl these look amazing!!!
One of my sons would go bonkers for this! Yum!!!
How did you know that Mounds/Almond Joy was my favorite candy bar?! I'll be waiting by my mailbox for some.
I love coconut and am totally making these this weekend. We have a bar over here in Canada simply called "Coconut". It's to die for. Hard to find so I always snag a gazillion when I am in the city. Think I need a trip to the city. I find the whole Mounds and Almond Joy thing so weird. Makes zero sense. Looking forward to December. I love me some cookies.
Can't wait to see what everyone will be whipping up next month!! 🙂 I want to lick the frosting so bad right now. Good thing I can't through my screen huh? 🙂 That'd be messy.
What incredible photos! These look delicious. This is my first visit to your blog but I'll be back. I like your recipes and I enjoyed the time I spent here. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

Oh Katrina, fabulous!! The layers, the flavors, the gooey factor, rich and wonderful…I want!
I guess the name coconut joy just didn't sound as good…lol, but you have a good point! Now I wish my wife would eat coconut, I do love it and those brownies look amazing!
