10. I’ve always and forever bought imitation vanilla extract.
9. I stare at those pretty dark brown bottles of real vanilla with longing.
8. I am horrible at spending money *cue Husband’s cheering* so I always buy the cheapest of everything (including vanilla).
7. My mom baked with imitation vanilla extract and I still had a happy childhood.
6. I recently bought real vanilla extract at my grocery store and I was giddy with anticipation. I hated it.
5. I baked 3 things with the grocery store vanilla before I gave up and threw it away.
4. I contacted Wild Bean Vanilla Company and confessed my imitation vanilla extract sins and my real vanilla extract dislike and asked if there is a 12 step program for real vanilla extract drop outs.
3. The people at Wild Bean Vanilla promised to convert me and said that the problem is that grocery store vanilla is aged for 2 weeks, while hand crafted vanilla is aged for 2 months.
2. I have been baking with their Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Extract all week…and I LOVE it! Sweet success! My buttercream just got even more awesome. Oh yeah.

I use imitation vanilla too! But I would love to try some good real vanilla.
Awesome giveaway! I would be interested in trying it. I've always used imitation vanilla extract, but recently bought McCormick brand (in bulk at BJ's) "real vanilla" and I definitely like it better than the imitation! Would love to try some of the really good stuff!

I love real vanilla extract – and make my own. If you want – I'll send you a fancy bottle and a stash of fresh vanilla beans and you can make your own! But I wouldn't mind winning some too!

I use real vanilla for "fancy" desserts, but keep the imitation stuff around for other things. I'd really like to try this!

lol I love that you convinced them to let you sample a bottle of their vanilla! And once I left home, I never used imitation vanilla extract. But you're right – there really can be a HUGE difference between different quality levels of vanilla and I'm so glad you finally found one that makes you happy 🙂

I hate vanilla so much (imitation, real, whatever) that I am not even going to bother to enter the giveaway. I wish I could learn to like it because it really limits my consumption of baked goods- if there's even a drop in something, I can tell. So, good luck everyone else (you're crazy for wanting to win this stuff! just kidding).

lol I loved reading all ten of those. I use the vanilla extract from wilton from michaels and I like that one. But I always used imitation for a long long time. Even when I grew up watching my mom and grandma and friends bake they used it as well so I know how you feel xD
