Cookie Dough Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping
Let’s just take a moment for that to sink in.
Chocolate Chip.
Cookie Dough.
Magic Shell.
Ice Cream Topping.
I may have cried a little when I dreamed this one up. I’m kidding of course. Sort of. I missed you all so much for the past few weeks while my computer was recovering from a near-fatal illness. I knew I had to bring you something special upon my return.
To celebrate I thought I would share this insanely easy and delicious recipe with you this weekend. We are also celebrating National Ice Cream Month in the food blogging world so this is a double treat today! You are 2 ingredients away from ice cream topping bliss. You know what Magic Shell topping is, right? It’s that delicious topping that hardens and gets all crunchy and crackly as soon as it hits the ice cream and forms a beautiful shell.
Are you ready for your mind to be blown?
-
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Mix and
-
Coconut Oil
After about 20 minutes you’re going to spoon it over the ice cream of your choice. You can of course do this immediately if you just can’t wait but if you are patient the flavor will be deeper and more distinct (don’t ask me if I know this from personal experience or anything).

I didn't need to let it sink it at all. This looks delicious! Great way to come back.
I'm so intrigued! So does this harden on the ice cream? Taste good? Of course it does; you made it! I have not worked with Coconut Oil but have friends that swear by it, putting it in EVERYTHING and on their skin too. Very innovative my friend!
Yummy … love to have:)
You are the coolest mom ever!! They invented the Magic Shell topping when I was a kid (I think…. I seem to remember it being a new product) and my mom would hardly ever buy it for us. Who knew you could make your own?
Your post had me laughing out loud! The "Don't hate me because I'm ugly" comment was ROFL funny!!
Welcome back!!
I can't wait to try this! 🙂
Such a clever post. I am working on a healthy lifestyle and dropping weight and I think my doctor would pop a vein if I had that now…but it looks amazing. I may have to make that for friends and family, tho!
