Cookie Dough Magic Shell Ice Cream Topping
Let’s just take a moment for that to sink in.
Chocolate Chip.
Cookie Dough.
Magic Shell.
Ice Cream Topping.
I may have cried a little when I dreamed this one up. I’m kidding of course. Sort of. I missed you all so much for the past few weeks while my computer was recovering from a near-fatal illness. I knew I had to bring you something special upon my return.
To celebrate I thought I would share this insanely easy and delicious recipe with you this weekend. We are also celebrating National Ice Cream Month in the food blogging world so this is a double treat today! You are 2 ingredients away from ice cream topping bliss. You know what Magic Shell topping is, right? It’s that delicious topping that hardens and gets all crunchy and crackly as soon as it hits the ice cream and forms a beautiful shell.
Are you ready for your mind to be blown?

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Mix and

Coconut Oil
After about 20 minutes you’re going to spoon it over the ice cream of your choice. You can of course do this immediately if you just can’t wait but if you are patient the flavor will be deeper and more distinct (don’t ask me if I know this from personal experience or anything).

Yes- some of the chocolate chips did melt (that's what made the brown color). I can't tlel you how long for sure I let it settle/combine before I took these pictures. Probably close to an hour or so? But it wasn't grainy when we made it. I'm so glad you liked the taste and tried to find an excuse to keep dipping! Perhaps wait a bit longer to avoid the grainy texture if that bothers you. Thank you so much for letting me know you tried it!
Okie, I made this and have a few questions…. mine came out grainy. How long did you leave yours over the heat? Did your chocolate chips melt to give you the brown color? Now, even though mine was grainy… it was still amazing… so amazing, I was chilling bananas, cookies, spoons to coat in this stuff!
As The Partridge Family once said, I think I love you.
Uh, the magic shell, that is. Okay, maybe you too. But only because you've managed to feed my addiction to magic shell. So thank you. 😉
oooh, yummy! I've seen homemade Magic Shell but not spruced up with cookie dough mix. Sounds so good!
That's long name, and I love every bit of it!

I will! Thanks! 🙂
Thanks Brandie! You always bring a smile to my face! You are an encourager 🙂
Well there you go! It was so so good! I am so infatuated with coconut oil these days. 🙂
I think the coconut oil is the thing that makes it work. Coconut oil is a solid but turns liquid at 73 degress F (or something like that). So it turns back into a solid once it touches the cold ice cream.
It doesn't need to be pretty, when it SOUNDS this good!!!
Ha! 😀
You are so sweet! Thanks! 🙂
