Sweet and Tart Cherry Limeade Frozen Yogurt

Dear Summer, I love your lazy mornings and your picnic lunches. I love your pool days and the way you smell of sunscreen. Your warm evenings enjoying s’mores by the campfire make me smile. There are no alarms, fewer missed appointments, and lots of time spent laughing with friends. I can’t ignore it any longer- school is back in session next week. Alarm clocks! Backpacks! Homework! Meal-planning! **sigh**

Cherry Limeade Frozen Yogurt

Working with the American Dairy Association Mideast I know that eating a nutritious breakfast that includes low fat or fat free milk provides 1/4 of a child’s daily nutrient needs and is linked to a higher intake of calcium, a nutrient kids are lacking.

Kids who drink milk when they are young are more likely to drink milk as adults. Lifelong milk drinking is linked to stronger bones, a healthier heart and less chance of developing diabetes.

Simple and delicious after school snack- Cherry Limeade Frozen Yogurt

I’m sure to get in our dairy in the morning, and I know they are getting a delicious serving of milk at school (even flavored milk provides the same nine essential nutrients found in white milk!). After school snacking is where it all goes downhill unless I have a very specific plan. My kids LOVE frozen yogurt and I’m happy to give it to them for an afternoon pick-me-up. This cherry limeade frozen yogurt is sweet and tart and since it is made with Greek yogurt it’s filling and delicious. This would be perfect for after soccer practice too- I’m loading up my freezer now!
