Strawberry Candied Bacon Recipe-- MUST. TRY. IMMEDIATELY!

Last month I spent some time in in sunny California (read more about my AMAZING California Strawberries Farm Tour here). I guess you could say that I was inspired by all things strawberry! Everything I ate had some strawberry spin on it. And strawberries are healthy so I’m pretty sure I ate health food all weekend.

Strawberry Candied Bacon Recipe

Nevermind that I had fresh herbs and farmers cheese stuffed strawberries rolled in pecan bacon dust

peanut butter, strawberry jam, and bacon Kobe slider served on brioche with waffle fries and strawberry ketchup,

and Salted Caramel Bacon Strawberry Brownies among other such health foods.

Anybody else sensing this strawberry bacon theme?

Strawberry Candied Bacon Recipe with strawberry jam

I just couldn’t help myself. The first moment I had some bacon in the house I ran to the kitchen to make strawberry candied bacon! I have never done the whole bacon-in-dessert thing until just now (I’m a late-bloomer). Oh you must try it- you MUST!

Strawberry Candied Bacon- I can't wait to try this recipe!

And with that toast and a drippy egg? What have I done?!

PS: My mom immediately wanted to chop it up and tuck it into her bacon beans recipe <— can you even?!

Yield: 15 strips

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 20 minutes

This sweet and savory Strawberry Candied Bacon will be a delight to your taste buds- Bacon sweetened with strawberry jam and baked to crispy perfection!

Ingredients:

1 pound bacon
1/4 Cup strawberry jam or strawberry pie filling
2 Tablespoons brown sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
  2. Line a baking sheet with foil. Place a baking rack on top (or use a broiling pan so that the bacon fat can drain off).
  3. Coat bacon slices in jam or pie preserves. Sprinkle with brown sugar.
  4. Bake until crispy (15-20 minutes depending on the thickness of your bacon). Let cool and drain on paper towels.

Notes:

  • I made this with strawberry jam as well as strawberry pie preserves- both were a hit!
  • You can use raw or the packaged/cooked bacon. If using the precooked bacon check after every 5 minutes so that it doesn't burn.

I am totally sending this to my Canadian father in law who swears by strawberry jam and bacon on toast. You just wrapped it all into one mind-blowing sweet/savory/bacony package. Daughter-in-law of the year if I make this for him? I say yes.
