Spiced Up Olive Oil
Dear Butter,
I know we’ve been very close for so long. I have fond memories of you collecting in pools over my waffles as a child. I even remember the first time as a teenager I took you out of the refrigerator to soften just in time to make the perfect chocolate chip cookies. And as a newlywed I stayed true to you even though You-Know-Who fit our grocery budget much better. I never swayed. But if you’re honest with yourself you have seen this coming. I’m not breaking up; I still want/need you in my life. But it is time to spice things up. Surely this doesn’t come as a surprise to you. I told you about that fateful night when the waitress brought Olive Oil to the table with our bread- I was completely open and honest with you and I think you were happy for me. I love you, my sweet, sweet Butter.
We will still see each other around. And I promise that I’ll always reach for you when I preheat my oven to 350 and bake up something sweet. Your nemesis (M) will never take over your spot in my kitchen- be assured of this. You may never have known of my cheating but I thought you deserved better. You can stay all cold and chilled in my refrigerator and Olive Oil will take his place on my counter top. Yes, it is true- I know you’ve seen that little jug on the counter top while I had you out of the refrigerator to soften. I’ve seen the looks you two have been giving each other when I’ve taken you out to come to room temperature. I hope we can be adult about this and make it work.
Sincerely,
Katrina, xoxo

Lol, cute! My olive oil and butter are always having it out. You are so lucky not to have been here the time I made cookies with olive oil. It was not pretty! The olive oil cookies turned out fabulous by the way but don't tell butter that!
That was too funny! Now I'm ready to spice up my olive oil, lots of possibilities.

I love your letter to butter. The dipping oil looks amazing!
Mmmm…reminds me of the dipping oil they serve with salad at Carrabba's. Sometimes we eat so much of the bread and oil that we can barely take two bites of our entrees and have to box 'em up! Love that I can make this at home…thanks!!
You are so funny! This sounds like a nicely spiced olive oil! YUM!
ha ha ha you have an add on your side bar "Visit Myrtle Beach" and we just got back few days ago from a 3 weeks vacation there :)))
I love dipping bread in olive oil, sometimes I think I could live only on that, ok, on chocolate too
Who wouldn't love to dip their bread in this deliciousnesssssss…. yummmmmmo!
Too Cute! I love when you get the yummy flavored olive oil to dip your bread in. My 6 year old just discovered how yummy this can be too!
I drizzle oilive oil on my bread too. My olive oil only has some garlic in it but i like the sound of this this spiced version too.
Btw, your letter to butter was hillarious! Lol
Ooo, I love dipping bread in olive oil. I remember going to dinner with a friend for Christmas 4 years ago and I pretty much mopped up the olive oil dish with the bread. My friend didn't mind ^_^ But yes, I think I can actually make this without having to pick anything up at the store, we have all those spices at home. yay!!
LOL at the 'can't we all just get along' pic! 😀
Love this post! 🙂 There's a place for butter in all of our hearts…but olive oil is definitely my true love 🙂
Yes, olive oil is definitely much better. However, butter will always have a special place in our hearts, right?
you are too funny, katrina! i gotta try this soon – my hubs has an obsession with olive oil… and we've had more than one conversation about how we need a "spiced up" olive oil. now i have no excuse to make it! =)
You know what is the best part of this blog? I will tell you, I know you and I can hear you having this conversation with the butter, along with your awesome facial expressions. Also the dipping oil looks great and yummy. If I make spaghetti tonight that would be a get little side 🙂
Thanks for the link – we love the mixture, too! I'm glad you guys liked it! : D
