Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup
If PSL stands for Pumpkin Spice Latte where you’re from then this Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup is for you. It takes pennies to make!
While the whole world has been celebrating the return of Pumpkin Spice Lattes I have been sick in bed. Craving food. But mostly craving coffee. You know you’re sick when you can’t even muster up the desire to drink coffee.
Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup
Only 4 ingredients- Water, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice
Only 10 minutes- You only need 10 minutes for the water to boil and then to strain everything. This is a quick and easy recipe!
Save Money- Grabbing a Grande Pumpkin Spice Latte at your local coffee shop will set you back about $5.00. This Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup costs only pennies to make. Add coffee and a little whipped cream at home and I’m guessing this homemade version comes in under $1.00.
No special equipment- If you do not have fine mesh sieve then you can strain the spices through a clean tea towel or cheesecloth.
How to Use Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup
This syrup is meant for coffee but you can use it in a variety of creative ways!
Try Homemade Pumpkin Spice Coffee Syrup over pancakes or waffles.
Drizzle it over oatmeal, french toast, or Pumpkin Cranberry Bread Pudding.

I am finally going to the doctor so I am hoping he waves his magic wand and I can start consuming food again soon. And coffee. Have I mentioned that I miss coffee?
I hope you try this pumpkin coffee syrup. The next time you make pumpkin muffins or pie, just set aside a tablespoon of pumpkin puree and your morning coffee will thank you.
And I don’t want to hear any fuss about it being too early for pumpkin. I will just turn up my Christmas music if I can hear you complaining.

Heavenly Father, I pray that you heal Katrina so she can’t get back to feeling better, caring for her little ones and yes, drinking coffee. In Jesus’ name, amen!
🙏
Thanks for the recipe!
Love this recipe! yum!!
I wonder if you would be able to substitute milk or cream for the water. I am looking to create a DIY pumpkin spice coffee creamer to publish on my blog!
Xo, Amanda
I am a pumpkinaholic! Let the Christmas music play!
You have a very cute sense of humor even when you’re not feeling well! I’ll try this just because you say it’s good!
AWESOME RECIPE THANKS SO MUCH. Don’t skip the straining step, I just used a clean thin dish towel and it worked perfect 😀
I really want to try this. I love pumpkin everything. My only concern is it being way too sweet for me. I unfortunately am very sensitive to things being too sweet, yet hate (and cannot stomach any of the fake sugars). If I want to cut down on the sweetness, but not the pumpkiny flavor, what should I do? Just cut down the sugar? Will it still mix ok?
If you cut the sugar it will be less like a syrup and more thin/fluid.
So maybe I did this wrong.. But mines not very “syrupy”.. Does it need to sit in the fridge to thicken? Or perhaps I messed up when measuring the brown sugar?.. Any thoughts?
Thanks! Love your blog 🙂
Hi Tori- did it thicken up for you? The classic recipe for simple syrup is equal parts water plus sugar. You can boil it longer or add more sugar if you want it thicker.
LOVE this…. Who knew?? It’s the littlest thing’s that make you feel better…. your recipe does that for me…. Thank you Katrina!!! As someone who loves the taste of the seasons but is intimidated by buying drinks from a Starbucks..(a sign I’m getting old) . I can make it myself at HOME!!!! Excuse me while I go make a Venti , pumpkin spice latte…… LOL!!!
Awesome! Enjoy your Venti 🙂
Do you have a “recipe” to can/ preserve this to give as Christmas presents?
My apologies- I have no experience with canning.
“I will just turn up my Christmas music if I can hear you complaining.”
I love you. Definitely doing this!!
Ha! glad someone caught that 😉
I do hope you are feeling better! I have a quick question as this sounds so yummy! How do you store it? In the refrigerator or on the counter?
Thank you so much! I just found this site tonight.
Danielle
I store mine in the refrigerator. Thanks for stopping by!
Sugar free recipe?
I love to use Swerve sweetener in place of sugar. It contains no artificial ingredients, preservatives or flavors and measures cup for cup like sugar.
Just now made this to accompany my coffee this morning and it’s SO good!! Mixed it in my cup with half and half and tasted it before I poured in my coffee. Delish, I love it! May even be delightful on some ice cream…..spice cake…..thank you!!
I’ve got to try this! I am a coffee-holic too and I love any coffee thing with pumpkin-y spices involved! It looks super easy too. I’d love to share this on my blog this week.

Did anyone figure out the calories by any chance? 🙂
You are tooo funny ( even when your sick LOL). You have the same sense of humor as us. You had me in stitch the whole read. Then no fussing about it being too early for pumpkin. Or you’ll turn your Christmas music LOL!!!! My poor baby’s sick her too. Car’s at the shop, no milk, no ginger ale. We have toast and apple sauce at least. And Thank God for Grammy down the street brought us milk and ginger ale. Yeah!
I also might make a big batch (a whole can) and freeze in ice cubes. Seems like this would make an awesome blended drink with powdered espresso, milk and ice.
This sounds like it would be lovely with a white chocolate liqueur (Godiva) and vanilla vodka. Just saying. =)
Can’t wait to try this! Have you tried to can this in order to keep it longer or give as gifts? Do you know if it would be “can-able”?
Your sense of humor won me over (and while sick too – yuck.. get better soon) – following now, do’t disappoint 😉
This is great in my “bullet proof” coffee. I have my brewed cup of coffee and add 2 Tbls. grass fed unsalted butter, 1 tsp. MCT oil, and this syrup. I blend it with my immersion blender and it gets just like a latte but completely healthy and good for you. Thanks for a great recipe.
Oh my goodness!! Looks almost good enough to drink!!! Love the flavors you have going on, and your photos is fabulous!!
Thanks so much for sharing this recipe, Katrina! I can’t wait to try it at home!
Any idea how many calories are in this syrup?
Love this! Thank you for sharing the recipe 😀
I found your blog via Premeditated Leftovers.
Hey, Katrina! Just letting you know that I LOVE this idea and featured this post on my blog today. You can find it over on Organizing Life with Littles here… https://organizinglifewithlittles.wordpress.com/2013/09/21/are-you-a-blogger/
Keep up the awesome work!
Katrina,
something you said really resonated with me. I developed a HORRIBLE sensitivity to gelatin and any gelatin products including “natural flavorings”, “yeast extracts”, “spices”…. you name it. I got so sick I thought I was dying. I still feel like I can’t “eat anything” and was bed ridden for a week during one bout. My naturopathic physician (and husband) said it was pancreatic distress,
Just sharing. Hope you feel better and it is not serious. When mommy is incapacitated, the whole ship goes down!! : )
Hi my darlin’. What a crazy week you’ve had. Hope you feel better soon and I have to make a low carb version of this!
I am so excited to try this! I have been looking for Pumpkin Spice creamer at Wal-Mart and Publix and have been so disappointed in not being able to find it. I love everything pumpkin for the fall (and I agree its never too early). I am going to make this a,s.a.p and use it right away! =)
Ohhhh myyyy! I want this!
Katrina, I hope you start to feel better soon. Sending good vibes your way. Quick question. How much syrup do you add per cup of coffee? I have a friend that would love this, and I want to make a directions tag to go with it. Thanks, ~Liz
I am not a coffee drinker but this would be perfect to make my favorite – Pumpkin Spice Steamers!
Feel better!
So I am not the only one sick:( I cant wait to get my morning cup to try this out. I am two different antibiotics and still have ear infection and sick. Hope you get better results. What the heck bacteria it is ?? lol grandson is eating frozen pumpkin waffles and blueberry syrup:)Happy winter wonderland!!!

This right here? Life changing.
I hope your doctor’s visit goes good and you’re back to normal soon! 🙁
Oh, I hope you can figure out soon what is wrong and getting to feeling better!
Sounds good! What are the directions for adding it to coffee? How much syrup? How much milk? (Love the ribbon around the jar!)
Woah, it’s THAT easy? Sign me up, I want lattes! Hehe… how does it magically transform into a latte now though?
Oh sweetie, I didn’t know you were sick!! Being sick with kids is so hard! I hope you feel better after your doctors visit.
First of all I hope you get better soon! Question….how much do you put in your coffee? Thanks!
Sounds delicious…do you know if Brown Sugar Substitute would work?
Thanks
Feel better soon!! Does this have to be refrigerated?
