Award-Winning Cookies and Awards
I’ve been holding out on you. I apologize but it was necessary. I’ve been receiving awards that you don’t know about and I also have kept my go-to cookie recipe from you. You see I started this blog on a whim and I didn’t plan as well as I’m usually accustomed to doing. I am one of those people who make lists and cross things off and who add things to the list that are already completed just to have the satisfaction of crossing them off. But when I started blogging I had been thinking about it for a couple of months and one day I saw the Oreo-stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies from genius Jenny of Picky Palate. It was so inspiring that I felt compelled to share it with anybody who would listen. And so began In Katrina’s Kitchen.
It has been 4 months and I have grown to love my little blog and all of my blogging friends. I thought I would mostly be blogging for my mom and my 5 friends (I love you girls!) but I am overwhelmed every day when thousands of you stop by and let me know you’ve been reading my blog.
I’m enjoying it so much that I even decided to get my own domain – did you notice? It’s not even a big deal to anyone except maybe me. But now you can type in https://www.inkatrinaskitchen.com/ to find me (no “blogspot” necessary)! You may have to update your feed subscription if you get my posts through feedburner.
I am happy to have the support and friendship from other bloggers in the food blog community and I have been showered with peer awards from fellow bloggers. In fact they started coming in so quickly and often that I couldn’t possibly keep up!
Before you go I want to share the love and pass on this Award-Winning Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. It comes to you out of love and tears, okay maybe not tears but still. I worked on this for many years – my poor husband endured many recipes that came up short. This is the one we all love now. Well, everyone except my brother-in-law because my recipe beat his in a little friendly competition along with about 30 other chocolate chip cookie recipes. He’s not bitter. And I don’t get out my trophy and proudly display it every time he comes over or anything. Ahem.

Chocolate Chips cookies are my all time favorite dessert. These look amazing!! I’ll be sure to update my feed. Congrats on your new site 🙂
The shortening is the key to the awesomeness of these cookies, I bet. I love how shortening makes cookies so soft. Your cookies look fantastic.
I ♥ me some chocolate chip cookies : ) I’ll have to try this recipe!
Yum. These look amazing.
congrats, Katrina, on how far you’ve come in SUCH a short amt of time…all the awards, the Babble award, the FG Gallery, your photography..seriously you’ve accomplished in 4 mos what takes many ppl 4 years, if EVER!
You rock! No 2 on Top 9 today! Your award-winning cookie with milk, a classic nostalgic combo that we all know and love, in a beautiful photo wins again!
Hi Anonymous! You are right that it is similiar- I mean how different can a cookie recipe be, right? And believe me this is not my only cookie recipe, just the one that I finally had some luck with. As for your question about what makes it different I used a lower baking temp, baked for a shorter amount of time, more flour, and I used shortening instead of butter. These things all make a big difference (at least in my house!). The result is a soft, sturdy cookie that gets even better the next day! I still make the Tollhouse cookies at times too. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂 ♥- Katrina
Congratulations on the blog. These look delicious, but I don’t understand how they’re different from the Toll House recipe, except for cooking at a slightly lower temperature and and an extra quarter cup of flour.(So probably more substantial and gooey both.)Did you do a lot of testing to arrive back at that classic recipe?
Your recipe definitely sounds award winning! I can’t wait to try it myself. This is my first visit to your blog…can’t wait to keep reading 🙂
Haha I do the exact same thing with lists! I’m glad I’m not the only one who puts things on there just so I can cross them off! Your cookies definitely look award winning 🙂
What a gorgeous blog! And I’m looking forward to trying those cookies (tummy rumbled looking at the pics). 🙂

I just baked these today using your recipe – amazing! I have tried other recipes in the past, but none came out the way I wanted them too. When I bit into one of these, I exclaimed to my dad, “Finally… I made good cookies!”

Congrats on your awards and own domain! I need to get out under free WP and self-host soon, with my own domain, but so worried about losing content during the move.
That said, those cookies look AMAZING. I love milk chocolate chips in my CC cookies. However, think I may sub butter, or half butter. I can’t live without my butter LOL
